Default Introducing myself...

First off, what a great site!

Second, I worked for Sanctuary Woods Multimedia back in the early to mid 90's. I worked in the Victoria B.C. studio where we did development of original games, most notably "Ripley's Believe It or Not! The Riddle of Master Lu" and "Orion Burger". Sanctuary Woods is well known for publishing "The Journeyman Project" as well.

Some interesting tidbits. Sanctuary Woods bought MADS (Microprose Adventure Development System) from Microprose and hired Matt Gruson, Paul Lahaise, and Mike Gibson to come along and work on games. These guys worked on games such as Rex Nebular, Civilization, etc. etc. at Microprose.

"Once Upon A Forest" was developed using MADS. We worked on that while our advanced technology group updated to MADS to M4DS. Don't ask me what the "M4" stands for...I don't remember. I think it was a multiplatform, multimedia....m-something, m-something. M4DS was the system used to build Ripley's and Orion Burger. We were working on a third point n' click adventure called "Scarecrow" when the company went bust in 1996.

If you have any questions or are looking for information about Microprose or Sanctuary Woods titles I still talk to a lot of folks from the old studio and can probably find out what you'd like to know.

Are all those guys still in the game development biz? I would love to know what new adventure games are in the planning and development stages.

Paul Lahaise was at LeapFrog for quite a while and is doing private contracting now. Matt Gruson has been doing various things but is unfortunately out of the games business for the most part. Mike Gibson was involved with Sid Maier at Firaxis for quite a while but has since branched out on his own. I haven't talked with Mike for a while, but I know he's doing something related to games...

So, unfortunately not much going on in the adventure game genre these days.
