Dosbox: CD-Rom problems
I've just discovered a CD containing a full version of the old game MILLENIA.
Great! DosBox: mount c c:\ (yes i know, sorry) mound d d:\ -t cdrom But when I start the game it tells me this: Searching For CD-ROM ... Unable to locate CD-ROM with Millenia on it. Make sure that the disc has been inserted into your CD-ROM drive. So ... hm what? The disc is running quite well; I tried to create an ISO and get it work this way. Same result. I tried to run the game from the CD. Same result. So ... what? Who can help? |

For starters, this http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=14406 can help improve your mount skills.
2'th: what also would help is to know : mount c c:\ (yes i know, sorry) mound d d:\ -t cdrom What you do between above and underneath, did you correctly install? How you try to run the game? whatever whatnots .... But when I start the game... 3'th OS? 4'th: dosbox version? 6'th: dosbox readme? Fine tuning your CD mount? 7'th: original CD or copy? Details ... details ... We're curious . And if *(yes i know, sorry)* you know WHY you do it? There is NO reason to do it.

Hi, thanks for quick reply.
First, I installed the game in WinXp with VDMSound. Everything went fine, but I kept getting msgs that I do not have enough EMM (although I followed a guide that SHOULD work), so I took DosBox. OK, DosBox 0.72 starts. I type: mount c c:\ mound d d:\ -t cdrom C:\ cd millenia mil (mil.bat starts the game) Then I get this msg: Searching For CD-ROM ... Unable to locate CD-ROM with Millenia on it. Make sure that the disc has been inserted into your CD-ROM drive. End of story. |

-> delete your millenia folder -(doesn't work anyway, really, do it, the cfg file is wrong, won't work)-
-> create a c:\oldgames -> run dosbox, mount lines: mount c c:\oldgames mount d d:\ -t cdrom d: now install the game from D to C:\millenia in dosbox to run your game: mount c c:\oldgames mount d d:\ -t cdrom c: cd millenia mil Keep in mind that your C in dosbox is c:\olgames in windows. Should work, if you have the original cd. Do you?

If you want to use an ISO of the CD, use IMGMOUNT to mount it.

Yes, I installed everything in Dosbox.
Just to be sure I deleted everything and re-installed. And when I try to run directly from CD it still says ... Searching For CD-ROM ... Unable to locate CD-ROM with Millenia on it. Make sure that the disc has been inserted into your CD-ROM drive. End of story. |

Silly question: Is the CD drive designated d in windows? If not, change the last of the 2 "d"s in your mount command to match the designated letter.

Well it seems that you've done everything you could, I had a similar problem with the CD version of Mega Man X for Dos. Try as I might I could not get it to run. I found out later that the CD was jacked up and that it would not even run on a Pure Dos system. what I'm trying to say is that the CD may be shot, and that may be the problem. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
