Well, it looks like now I know what is AD&D in general, thanks to you, men! And, Yobor, thanks for the link!

So that's what the A meant. LOL Seriously I didn't know.
And what does THACO stand for? And I'm assuming AC means Armour Class, but why is the lower the AC the better? I have played BG2 but never have enough patience to finish it, and I always get confused over these terms such as THACO and all of the other ones. |

THACO is To Hit Armor Class Zero. It is a value. On most lvl 1 characters (fighter excluded) the THACO is 20. The person must roll a 20 on the die to hit the monster with armor class zero. If the monster has armor class 4, then you subtract four from THACO, and that is what you have to roll to hit it. Thus, lower AC means less of a number to subtract. Better?
BG2 was the last game that used Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd edition rules. Also, Weapon Proficiency in that sense was dropped for the much more intuitive Feat system. Tulac, I agree with you. Roleplaying is very much more fun than just rolling the dice. However many of the skills are essential for the DM to be able to handle situations. Jump for instance. Knowledge, Climb, Run, Ride, Concentration, they all cannot be Roleplayed, while yes Diplomacy can. But the real purpose of those skills is for the DM, so that he has a clear definition of whether soemone succeeds at something or not. |

What's the deal with rolling a dice for every fart to see how it smells? After all it was meant to be a fantasy game. But kind of turned into a bureaucrat's delight... |

Base Armor class is 10, with each type of armor and exterity adding a certain amount(i.e leather +1, chainshirt +4), and the attacker has two roll a d20(that's a dice with 20 sides), and add it's attack bonus(it grows by level, and magical weapons add to this bonus), and if the number rolled with bonus is bigger or the same as AC, the target is hit... That sounds complicated, but it's actually quite simple in reality...

It is a very much improvement on the old one. D&D grows on you as you play. I know some people that love to play but suck at roleplaying, and other people that get sick of it but are uber at roleplaying. It attracts a wide variety of people (All teenage/20's geeks) who play together at something that can be adult-themed or for kids. All in all, D&D is a great thing to do.
Tulac, you can play D&D online you know. There are engines and browsers for it. |

I think online playing is slow, and DnD sessions take 5h, my Internet bill would be huge, and I can't express myself that great in English, I'd like to try it out though, if you supply me with the links...
