I've been all over google trying to figure this one out. How can I answer the phoen using my modem and PC headset?
I bought this thing 2 yrs ago, Zoom Telephonics V.92 Faxmodem 56K model number 3025C. I bought it right before my parents caved and got cable, so I am still tryng to justify purchasing this thing. I want to answer the phone with it. I cannot seem to figure out how to get it to work. It will answer the phone, but I hear nothing, and person on other end barely hears me say hi. I'm using WinXP SP2, fully updated and have put the shortcut to dialer.exe back in the ciommunications folder. I know a bunch fo you still use dial up modems so I'm hoping you will have a few more ideas than the other places i looked. Abandonia = if you can figure this one out (and yes, my microphone is on!) |

Why would you need that?
Anyway, i think you need specialized piece of software. I think i maybe got one with my modem, but that was like a decade ago. Or perhaps it's not even possible.

first of all, download latest sound utility depending on your manufacturer. and hehe, have you tried doing start->run->sndvol32?=] check the volume controlls you should also look for something like this: this is "sndstorm.exe" in windows\system32 directory (i dont know about other manufacturers, i have nVidia) try switching options in "digitalized input"

What software are you using?
Using the Windows Phone Dialer would not let you use the modem as a phone. You can only use the modem as a phone through other software, such as Cheyenne Bitware (http://www.spyfind.com/bitware.html)

my on board sound is simple the standard Realtek AC97
I"ve been trying all kinds of programs. I downloaded the voice medem testing tool. Says that my zoom 56K is voice compatable as well as my US robotics modem is also compatible. The wave devices have been installed with the modems, so I know that the sound si there somehwere, i just can't find it. One note is that with anothe rprogram i downlaoded, free call center, it recorded the other person fine, but that person could nbever hear me... |
