I bout this card 2 months ago and it was working superbly until now. it is a Sapphire RADEON 9600 XT 256Mb AGP +TV-out and DVI
Yesterday morning I turned on my comp and I almost got a heart attack. The whloe screen was distorted. Full of clolred dots and horizontal lines, I could barely see a thing. I blind-navigated with buttons becouse I didn't see the mouse pointer(thank God I learned that back with win95 ) I updated the driver, I reinstalled DirectX 9c, I ran a full sweep with NAV, I done everything I could thought out. Then for a final try, I disabled hardware acceleration. Surprise, that solved it temporarly. The screein is okay now, but some lines and dots appear time-to-time after excessive use. If I turn back hardware acceleration, the same thing, I can't see anyting. What could be the problem? Heeelp!

Maybe it's overheating; mihg tbe worth cleaning it out and checking all the connections while you're in there.

It is not a ATI specific problem. I had same problem with NVidia. My guess is that either your card was over heating for some reason, or that it is about to die. My Geforce did the same, then "fixed" itself for a few days, then BOOOOOM. Well, it didn't explode but it had a horrible ending, or end. Whatever is funnier.

Something similar happened to me - but it was the monitor (it died a few days later). Sorry I can't help more.
