I had this problem too. Ran it in win98 compat mode and it worked for a bit. I got a few missions in, but came to a point where in-game the whole thing locks up. Nothing I've done has gotten it to work properly since. Biggest drawback to computers is the lack of game support from companies who sell games and want you to remain loyal....hm...

I have the original RA2, from when it was first released. I can install it on XPSP2 no problem, but the game frequently crashes when there is a video in-game, ie (incoming messages where the map is). It doesn't always do it, though.

Red Alert 2 works fine for me on XP Pro with SP2. On my friends computer though it doesn't work, it just gives a blank screen and then crashes. He has upgraded his video card to the same model as me, reinstalled xp and hasn't had any luck. This suggests that it is likely to be a hardware issue, probably the motherboard.
