This one is great, if it's the empire I remember. Is it the one where one of the scenario is about might and magic (with unit transposed to fantasy setting?)

Because it has the same look and feel. As I can't download at work, I can't wait to at home tonight to test it!

I liked the whole unit thing, running around and blasting people with tanks. Cities having the "specialty" production for a specific unit.

i couldnt get into this game at all... i do think the "3" is a decent rating though. how are the battles calculated anyways? i had the feeling that it was just always dice being rolled and the higher number won.

Sounds vaguely like Advance Wars.

This is a great game!

I just have one problem, the game screen flickers non-stop during play making it very hard to see not too mention giving me a headache.
I did figure out a way around the problem though (sort of). By playing one short, quick game first. After that the screen stops flickering so bad.

All in all, still an enjoyable game. Kudos to the person(s) who found it. :bye:

Play it with dosbox. If you are doing so already, use d-fend to set the resolution to your desktop resolution and lock it there. It is most likely a refresh rate problem, something that I have seen many on-board graphics cards manage to choke on in more recent years.

Hope this helps

The review is a little inaccurate. Empire Deluxe does have fog of war in standard and advance game difficulties.

I did not have the flicker problem. It could be because I downloaded my copy on Home of the underdogs.

I used to play this in the early 80's on a MicroVAX at work, and haven't seen it since. Sometimes the simplest are still the best. The platform indicators in the listing seem to say this will play in XP, is that right? If so, how do I do that? (These new-fangled computers these days... ) Thanks!
