is there a way to check what sound card i have, speakers, screen card and so on without taking the computer apart and without going to the computer manual or manufactors?

Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System tools -> System information
That is presuming you have winxp, it's probably the same on win2k and win98 though...

thanks but i kind of got lost i went to components and sound device.
it tells me i have usb audio device and AliAudio accelerator WDM driver(toshiba). what does that mean? like in sound blaster pc speakers midi and so on. and where do i find the screen card? found it in display i have trident video accelerator cyber blade-Ai1. what does that mean? |

That means that you have the Trident video accelerator (it's an old card probably), also what it says for your sound card, that is infact your sound card, because every soundcard has midi support, soundblaster is a brand of sound cards (from Creative Labs), just like your card id, so I don't get your point...

in the game setups they have diferent sound oppetions like midi and adlib and soundblaster and pc speakers and so on and i want to know what i have or not whatever i wrote i have i dont know what it supports do you understand?

Yes, you see that was in the time when Soundblaster was the only (along with adlib and tandy) sound cardmaker(well Creative is the maker, Soundblaster is the brand), I guess you could say that all of todays cards are soundblaster compatible...

I'm not sure about that, try 220 and IRQ 9, if it doesn't work mess with the settings until it does
