Hi again.

I've got my original copy of SSI's Soliders at War up and running in WinXP but every animation is loaded from the CD and it's terribly slow. There is one huge (440 meg) file on the CD which stores all of the animations so what I'd like to do is create a virtual CD drive on my HD and copy this file there and then point SaW to it.

I've read a bit about Daemon Tools but I'm not sure if "mounting" is what I need. Will it do this for me?

Any help is appreciated!

Sounds about right - I'd certainly give Daemon a try. You might try googling for "Soldiers at War no CD" and seeing what comes up too.

Dos-box can mount images. But yes, Daemon Tools can mount "Images" as artificial CD drives. You can use the demo of MagicISO if you don't have imaging software, but be sure to use the cue/bin format.

You can also use CloneCD to create image and use it's "Virtual Clone Drive". Alas, CloneCD is discontinued and you can't download it anymore. That's why I keep my copy on a safe place

Thanks for all the input.

Looks like Daemon Tools doesn't play well with Roxio Easy CD Creator which I have.

DosBox won't work because SaW is a Windows game.

I found a bunch of older CloneCD versions. Which one should I try?

Edit: Ok, got CloneCD running with a Virtual drive F: created. I've got the game CD in D:... Now what?!? :help:

Nevermind, I figured it out and it's working like a charm now, running off a CloneCD virtual drive! Thanks for the tips!

Daemon or Alcohol 120% are the best tools to emulate or mount images, I always use Daemon because it's free and it is a very tiny prog to download.
