I voted Undecided...

It can go either way...

Compare MOO2, or even MOO1, with MOO3
MOO3 had a lot more effort in the design but lost out on the gameplay,

But then look at GT4 or NFSUG2 compared to an early racing game like street rods,
SR was cool, but now we have car racing/upgrading games with better gameplay AND design...

It varies...

They still don't match up to Stunts, though :bleh: But true, racing games have to have it from speed and customization. Especially speed's a problem from back in the days that's been cleared nowadays. Customization, on the other hand... if only there was a racing game of today's generation that allowed to edit tracks the same awesome way you could in Stunts, and a way to customize your car like in Street Rod, that would make the perfect racing game.

Hey! Im happy I started this thread!!! i guess the results speak a lot more for the oldies. Its true enough, todays developers will just sell to the mindless guys who want eyecandy and adrenaline. What about the masses of veteran gamers who want a little more.... something called originality? Quite frankly im sick and tired of seeing so many AOE 2 , C&C etc clones. Its the same concept done to death. I guess the best game today can't even begin to compete with the games of yore coz their ideas were new and cool but when a game repeats the same damn concept for the millionth time with a couple of graphic frills , the game just starts to suck.
any whoo. I played HL2 and doom 3 :ressurection I forget. I liked them both but somehow I don't get that X factor I used to get playing games like Fallout, NFS2 and DOOM. What we need is for someone to come up with some really radical ideas for games. radical enough to create a new genre alltogether. till then bring out the Longest journey and adventure on ...
