Exclamation MobyGames starts cataloguing arcade game machines

This is quite unexpected... recently saved from death, MobyGames started cataloguing video games for coin-operated arcade machines today. After over 10 years of user demands & suggestions!

First batch of games is on file:
http://www.mobygames.com/browse/game...de/list-games/

Submission Guidelines:

I'd say if you aren't interested in the cabinets themselves (hardware), MobyGames now has everything to assimilate KLOV catalog.

Finally, I wonder what they have been waiting all these years.

But they will take them just as long to fill up their catalog to compare to KLOV; and then without cabinet information?

Bear in mind that if the game was converted faithfully, MobyGames allows for adding is as a port to existing entry - this is the quickest way to catalog a game for a given platform. There are about 1300 entries marked as "coin-op conversion" already on file.

To prove my point: in just those few days over 250 arcade games listed with over 1500 screenshots.

Surely MobyGames won't overtake KLOV/IAM when it comes to collecting arcade machines, but it is surely more accessible to the general gaming masses. KLOV catalog lacks genres, themes etc., has few screenshots, it's presentation is even more dated than Mobys!

Over 1 000 entries now, with over 10 000 screenshots.

Where are you now, naysayers?

Sure, you may say that KLOV has nearly 5000, but MobyGames got their first thousand in just one month.

The growth would slow down now, yet it's still a commendable feat.

That's nice.

Neo Geo and arcade Neo Geo are considered different platforms? What's the difference?

Ask on MobyGames forums. My knowledge of arcade machines is next to nothing.

Perhaps it's this?

Yes I assumed there is some hardware difference, but I mean in the software. Since in Mobygames they get different screenshots, and yet you can see they're identical... Just curious :-P
