Question Basics

I'm new to retro - gaming so I've had a good look at the site but there are still a couple of things puzzling me:

1) If some games are still in copyright etc. why do they still feature on the site?

2) What does it mean when the game is said to be "sold" - has some company "bought" it or is it now on sale somewhere else?

The answers are probably blindingly obvious but please bear with me!

Regards.

1 - Sometimes, they will go in and out of availability. The reviews are typically a nice read. There is often some documentation/extras involved. The forum topics are kept open for discussion. Some games simply rock.

2 - It is available to buy online. Sometimes even by the original publisher.

Hmmm, you're already in Coventry, I see, so sending you there would be redundant...

However, simply searching the Site Comments forum would tell you the answer to all your questions.

Actually, copyrights last for 75 to 125 years (depending on the country, and there may be other nuances to when that period is counted from).

We don't delete the entries for games whose downloads have been removed. This is because
a) said reviews are products of someone's work and it would be asinine to destroy it just like that.
b) the game's status may change later, and changing the status takes five clicks for any game in the database.

It means we found that new copies of it are for sale somewhere.
