Master of orion 1 works fine , but 2 feels very laggy it takes too long to open up the different menus and pressing a button takes about 2secs to respond, im using win2k.

Not had any problems with anything else

Are you using the Windows version? If you are I can try it myself as I have the same version. I am running XP myself.

I believe its the dos version but im unsure , i had to get it from other means... i used to have the original but was all given away years ago to oxfam.. When i run it in windows it just loads and exists straight away, if i load through dos prompt it says load VESA.COM which then gives an error. The only way for it to work for me is dosbox, but is abit laggy.

edit : my friend sent me this hmmm http://www.ntcompatible.com/cdetail5785.html

Well DOSBox takes a lot out of your computer it could simply be a case of your computer not being fast enough to handle the game. Try fidlling around with cycles and frameskip and see if that helps.

master of orion II is very demanding game.
try setting core=dynamic in dosbox and go to 30.000 cycles or so.
