Hi Guys,
I was given this pattern to complete. I know it should be really easy for most of you guys. But the reason I didn't try is there are some rules or something involved with this. Some one told me a shape can't repeat it self if that shape is in a column or row. Anyways I'm confused. If you know can you please explain to me the basic rules for patterns likes this. The question is fill out the missing square according to the pattern. Thanks heaps!!

You have three different shapes. Two of them are on white background, one on black. Than you have in each row and in each column three different shapes, two of them on white background and one on black. The missing shape is the same as one in the upper left corner* :w00t:
Exellent k: . So are there any specific rules for this?
So it is only rows and colums that you have to look at. Not diagonals

It doesn't get any more specific than what Romano told you already, really.

Another rule might be that each shape has to be used three times, but that may just be a coincidence.

If you had to take diagonals into account, the thing would be impossible (or you would have to make up a new symbol)

Actually, come to think of it, at least one set of diagonals does matter: all the diagonals running from left to right show the same symbols.

This is only one question from a series of questions like this. So what are the basic rules. Still bit confused.

It should be so that each pattern has only one logical answer, and that being the answer they seek.
Like in the patterm above it didn't really make sense to repeat a symbol, or use a different collor then black. Neither did it make any sense to make up a symbol :P.

The basic rules are that you need to look for the rules. They won't always be the same.

The basic rule is to see the rule for each task
All right, you win.

Uuuups !!!

In the same time! A.J. you should wait next time for a few second - I'm older*
But you're almost certainly quicker at typing than I am. Well, anyway, we meant to say the same thing, right?
