I got dosbox .70 or whatever and it says I can record what my moniter is doing. Sounds sweet , only prob is, when I use it, it only records what happens in dosbox (like what I type there), and not what actually happens on my screen. Which means, after I start recording, I change screens and mess around, then stop the recording and look at what I got, which is so many seconds of dosbox prompt screen sitting there. How do I get it to record what I'm actually doing, instead of the dosbox prompt screen (where you type stuff into dosbox)? I'm using a laptop and windows xp if it means anything. When you explain, please do a precise step-by-step walkthrough, otherwise I get lost. Thanks.

it's doing what it tells you it should do.
You misunderstood it.

It only records what happens in DosBox.
If you want to record what's going on on your screen, use something like FRAPS, but make sure you have a lot of HDD space (it records videos without compression).

FRAPS is an even bigger pain in the backside in my experience. There must be a decent alternative somewhere.

It's actually intended to record fragments of gameplay, although sure you can record minutes and minutes of the same prompt.

The older freeware version doesn't have a cap on the time of recording. Doesn't record sound, though.
