Question

Uhhhhhhhhhhh :ranting:
I just arrived in Bulgaria this morning, pluged my computer in, turned it on, and...........

At the start it didn`t gave any "beep" at all.
The lamps are shining.
The CD-ROM is working.
The keyboard is dead, but at the start it flashes it`s lamps once.
The monitor is dead.

It worked perfectly well before. It was unplugged from the power for about 10 days, can that be the problem?
The monitor is not completely dead, when i removed the contact from the main board it was giving a "No Signal" massage.
I checked all the cables too...

I had the same problem 2 times before, but after pluging and unplugging the com. it eventually worked. But not this time. Can somebody please help me?
*trying to stay calm*

Listen to the sounds your machine makes. Does it boot up? Do the harddrives actually start?

There are two options right now: your power supply - or, worse, your motherboard. Try using a different PSU and see what happens.

What is a PSU Does it mean "power supply" ?

At the start it doesn`t make any sound at all. It doesn`t make the ussual "beeping" and this other sound like checking the floppy drive....

The graphics card is working...(or at least the cooler does...)

Oh, there is this red litlle lamp shining iside, i think that it is on the mother board. I think that it ussually was on.

i had this problem before and it was in power supply (btw also sebatianos in some very old topic).
but i found a "temporary solution" (well it doesnt have to work=]), when your pc is blinking and stuff, wait few seconds and press reset button and wait again, if few resets doesnt help, try changing the power supply. or MB, like horseman said=)

I had the same problem earlier this year but I worked out what was wrong and fixed it-powersupply.
For a start on second pc the one it happened to. If you pressed the power buttion the lights would blink then nothing.

Does the power voltage in bulgaria differ from yours at home?

Can you get into the BIOS? (try pushing F2, F8, Escape or Delete->not backspace)

I think that the voltage is pretty much the same, it wasn`t a problem before...

Anyway thanks for the advices, I just left my computer at a service and told them pretty much what you have told me I just hope they will be generous for the costs..... *sniff, sniff*

Yes. PSU = Power Supply Unit.

The problem is more serious, then. Sounds a lot like it could be your motherboard.

huh. then it means my motherboard too is doomed...

cause my problem is very similar. and i already changed the PSU. the funny thing is after i reset it a few times, unplugf the cables and bang on the box very hard it booted up and now i have it on and it's no problem. worked for 3 weeks now. nonstop.

but if i turn it off i am afraid same problem will occur again. and i wont' be able to boot it up normally. sometimes it even starts normally freezes and then does what Nace is telling. no booting no nothing. all lights are on, everyhting seems to be ok. power on, fans working but it doesn't start up.

Solution never turn it off unless you have to. Keep it on and reboot oit not shut it down every now and then.
