I think this movie lived up to the games reputation. Keeping all the characters original looking was awesome. Also putting in scenes from the game helped.

Saw this last year I think. It was decent.

Oh man it was painful. I've never been a fan of the final fantasy games though.

Looked nice though.

I was somewhat disappointed with it, and I didn't really have any big expectations about it either due to the other FF movie being just technical showoff.
The story was totally uninteresting and the rest was mostly spaced out fighting sequences. Naw, not my cup of tea.

The game was a whole different story though.

Terrible.
It was obvious the creators knew how to combine great audio/visual elements, and construct the pace of the film, but they knew nothing of dialouge, proper script writing, and how to actually make a good film overall.

the poll doesn't have an option for thos who saw the movie, but not the game (actualy the poll simply lack the simple-yet-classy "other(explain below)" option).
offcourse I suspect that I'm in a kind of unique situation- I never played FF7 (nor any above 6 or below 3), and never took any interest in it. yet I had to see the movie, because that was part of what we, as a group, were doing that fryday. Now it could be from the above mentioned lack of backstroy knowledge, but I found the movie to be rather mediocre.

Which version did you guys see?
And I find it funny how FF7AC is terrible yet DOOM is a "hidden gem".

I feared that. I've been following this thing ever since the first rumors and was always pretty excited to see it released in europe. Actually, I haven't even seen it yet. I'll probably do when the price of the DVD is down to 10 bucks or something like that.

It is? Never heard of that.

I've played FF7, but not entirely. I got somewhat bored of it. I really really really really hate those kind of random battles on a world map.

Although I was generally interested in the movie, I never saw it. And seeing this thread I don't think I really want to see it anymore now. Maybe sometime later when I've finally played FF7 entirely.
