That's because of the game was originally made for Windows 3.x ... Virtual PC would be a bet. I tried, but had may problems during installation of Congo. After accepting the license agreement setup stops... Maybe my Version of the game is broken. ANother possibilty would be Win95... so....

W3.x works fine in dosbox 0.72. (Higher res + sounds).
You can find a complete 'howto' @ the Vogons site.

Well, I tried again to install Congo today. Without any success... Followed the vogons instructions. Now Win3.11 runs fine. But setup breaks up after I accepted the agreement by clicking "yes"...

Wow, this brings back very good memories.

PC Gamer had a demo of this game on one of its very first cover discs (as in CD) some 14 years ago. It was gorgeous for its time - the puzzles weren't too weird either and having seen the movie, this game was pretty sweet. I really loved the jungle atmosphere. I've always had a thing for deep unknown jungles.

And I got it to work in Dosbox running Windows 3.1. Make sure you got Video For Windows, Wing, Quicktime, Win32, etc. installed - a LOT of Win31 games use those and not all of them have these on the CD.

Also DonCorleone, it's not a matter of simply installing Windows 3.1. You need to install souncard drivers, video drivers, etc. These can be found online - the standard graphics drivers are NOT sufficient.

Seems that one don't have do execute the setup.exe. The game starts at least. But I still have some sound problems although I installed quite a few different drivers. Any suggestions? For drivers I mean?

I finally got this working on my old Windows 95 machine. It looks good. Windows Xp doesn't like some runtime libraries.

Wow, this was quite honestly the worst African movie of all time. So many levels of Did Not Do The Research that after a while i started viewing the whole thing as Tim Curry doing a hilarious self-parody where he'd forgotten the fishnet stockings, the whole plot came from a bad opium dream and the sets were originally modelled in plasticine by very young and contumelious infants. And they stole the soundtrack from a mixtape of eighties synth-rock nostalgia remakes. All in all,

If I were to believe red's and hunvagy's words, arete, the game is quite good.
