I try to seed as much as possible, I know how happy I am when I get something I want, so I would like to spread the same happiness

Yeah...and you all know that sometimes you have to use Bittorrent to get something. Last time I checked, a copy of "Typing of the Dead" was nowhere to be found on Ebay or any computer store I know of...so I torrented it.

It's simply the best typing software I've ever used! :w00t:

OK I'll put it this way. Nobody installs and has a torrent client running only seeding if he never plans to download anything for himself. If that's the case he won't install it in the first place. So it's not primarily about empathy because if it was even people who never download for their own use would do just that.

why wouldnt you download too? like i said
Quote:
you, as a random leecher could just delete every torrent after downloading it. but you seed it cause you think of others and dont want them to end up without seeds, you dont seed for "future torrents". its not that you thought about yourself when you seeded, cause you just dont have to[/b]

The starting point of my argument is that you don't want to download for yourself i.e. there's nothing out there that you want. For whatever reason, it's an hypothesis --a very likely one since millions of people don't use torrents, *raises hand*, *all his family members raise hands*. The hypothesis can't be disproven because it's not a conclusion, it's the starting point.

So, provided that person X doesn't want anything from the torrent network, if it was empathy his main motivation as you say, he might still install a torrent client and download things he doesn't want and will never use but that he knows people want, and just seed all the time. Since that never happens, my point.

END

Mine is below 0.3. Why? Because I have limited bandwith and I can only spend 5GB/month so I can't waste bandwith on seeding, and I barely download much from torrents anyway.

Well, if I Download a Torrent file (and that's a big IF), I actually don't use BitTorrent or IT'S likes.
I use Shareaza. It supports BitTorrent downloading. Uploading them gives me problems.

OK, I DO upload During the download, but at the moment I'm finished downloading, the uploading stops. <_<
So it would have NO point in keeping the Torrent. Hence the fact that I only upload 10% of my Torrent downloads.

But these Downloads DO suddenly apear on eD2K & Gnutella 1&2 all of the sudden.
And in that case I upload WAY MORE than that I download.

Well, that's perfectly understandable...I have cable and no bandwith cap.

I use Azureus, personally...Best. Client. Ever.
