rofl= rolling on the floor laughing

lmao= laugh my behind off

and I think foot in mouth is something like, you just said something that is kind of a faux pas, and you're embaressed and so you are shutting up.

i am not really sure but doesn't it mean to censor?
I mean to put the foot in somebody's mouth ie to reduce him to silence.

And then you could say

Man 1 "Er, She wasn't that bad, all the lads were with her"

and man 2 might say "keep digging"

And then you would be 'digging yourself into a deeper hole'.

Basically it's a term used for when you make a comment that ends up putting you in an embarrasing situation. A common relative phrase is foot-in-mouth disease, meaning commonly saying things at the wrong time.
