What is the possible harm of offtopic discussion once the thread has served it´s purpose?
Ask yourself, How does this harm other people, or disturb their discussion?

Or should it be closed because of the principle of denial of offtopic discussion?
For that is where the whole point of reasonibility leaves the stage /
