Jeah, and it is great in summer too... *ironic*
Maybe in the times of Athlons and Durons, but today with FX(64 bit) series, AMD is way cooler(in every meaning of that word) than Pentium, Prescott core(P4) is the one that tends to overheat.... [/b][/quote]
No kidding?!

Really didn't know that.

Jim6 any idea how the speed is controllable? I can't make my laptop pentium m work at full speed all the time no matter what. If I disable the speedstep it drops permanately at 1.2 while with it on it switches all the time and rarely stays constantly at 1.7 (full speed). I have even started a thread about it.
Actually, I can't help you here - I use Toshiba software I got with my laptop... It's quite a good program, so if you can't find another, I'd recommend it. (it's called Toshiba Power Saver)

Other than that, aren't there options in "Power Management"? I'm assuming you're using Windows XP...

I accidentally overclocked my Duron 1600 to 2GHz and never reached more than 35°C during summer. I don't see what the problem is with the AMD CPUs. Then again, my comp sounds like a microwave >_>
