you're not understanding the definition of respect.
people may -show- violent people respect through fear, but they dont respect them at all.

Of course not. Should the one who controlled others lose his fear effect upon them, he'll notice soon enough and often painful enough that it wasn't respect that others showed him.

No it isn't but when lacking brains it is the best way to subdue people, and ultimately earn their respect, even if only through fear.Of course if you are trying to earn respect from intelligent people, then that's another thing.Logic is your best friend.

Normally this are people who had been violent so they think you are not
allowed to have voice in the chapter...

This whole thread reminds me of Machiavelli's The Prince
His ideas about it is better to be feared than loved if you're in a leadership type position.
