When I needed to decide uppon a subject for my literature, I foolhardy chose one I actually thought to be interesting, only to find out that it was not all that easy to find any accomodating literature.

If anyone around here knows some Dutch literature, in which Greek mythology stands out as a literary theme in some way, or if anyone knows any Dutch writers who wrote about this topic (Greek mythology in Dutch literature), please tell me, and have my eternal gratitude.

Basically any book that has one of the following could be traced back to the Greek mythology:

- a mother thinking her son is absolutely the most (Oidipus);
- two people fighting over a woman and draging others into the fight (Illiad);
- a widow waiting for her husband to return, because she doesn't believe he's dead (Odyssey);
- the struggle between what is right and what should one do according to the law (Antigona);
- fighting for the life of a loved one (Orestus);
and many more...
You can basically link anything to Greek Mythology - most European literature can be linked to it, because it's the root for most of European culture.

Errr, isn't that the other way around :whistle:

Of course you are right. However, when having to write an essay about it, and later on having to do an exam based on it, you would be looking for something more substantial.
And, on a side note, to depict just any book with just any theme also found in Greek mythology as being based on Greek mythology is a bit farfetched to my thinking. Greek mythology really covers a huge ammount of thematic ground.

And my eternal gratitude for the feedback, Sebatianos! k:

And sorry for the bump, btw.

Basically it's more or less the same thing (a mother gets the son dependent, so he sees no other woman).

Hope you gett something more substantial though...
Good luck on the exam when the time comes!
