I wonder if this combination can beat dosbox or scummvm since they're both free now.

You mean vmware player it does not have enough features and I think it will only open virtual machine files that were previously made. Plus they have to be for vmware worstation I think.

Neither can beat DosBox. It would be a bad idea to use MS VPC altogether.

VMware now has their VM Server or whatever it is called for free, now. I'll stick to DOSBox anyway, I guess.
