I honestly have no idea why the game freezes for you. (And there shouldn't be any problem with clicking enter when the discussion is over).
Just click the mouse over and over, until all the invisble and unspoken dialogue is over (you should see the lips move and get dialogue options to choose from now and then). And after you finish the discussion, there should be no problem clicking Enter. The only thing I can think of is that you need to enhance the cycles

't Worked fine here. Worst thing I got to happen, was the menu flickering, but that was quickly solved by putting focus on it again with the mouse. After quitting Fable, DosBox went funny, though, as my typing only gave weird ASCII characters, like ®, ?, etc, and pressing return didn't work anymore (but that's in plain Dosbox, after quitting Fable)

What's up with the low ratings? If a game doesn't work properly, don't rate it and wait until a good working download is available, but don't rate it a one because of technical problems that aren't origined within the game itself. Be patient dear people, cause this doesn't really seems like a fair judgement to me.
Haven't played it yet myself, I'll go check it out later this week. Already looks beautiful though

The new archive is in place. And the votes have been restarted as we have a new archive.
Thanks a lot to Data who helped me get the new archive on the site. I would've never managed without him!

I would give it a four for some drawbacks.
But it's still a fantastic adventure game!
