Default Task manager and hidden processes

I noticed the xp task manager showed the cpu working at 20-100%

Problem is, no process seen in the TM uses more than 1-2%, with the exceptions of tea timer and explorer, but not even then does it add up to 100%.

What's going on?

Ok, looks like one of the avg processes is working overtime. avgw.exe is using on average 50% of the cpu. Currenly looking around to see if this is normal, but please feel free to reply if it isn't.

EDIT: For the record. AVG doesn't seem to be scanning or anything.

Shedule a chkdsk and reboot, seems AVG8 has problems when there are 'lost' clusters.

Or so I've been told ...... I don't know if it's true.
Otherwise: no idea.
There is an AVG forum for the free version, maybe they know more:
