Lightbulb I Found a way to boost net speed up to %80

I was recently trying to find a web browser that didn't suck and I have came up with 20 different browsers and 5 os's but all were as slow as the last.

later I did several ping tests and then it hit me The stock dns server....it sucks.

so i found a some free dns server ip's and was very pleased with the speed.

---dns ip's---
67.138.54.100 <-- that one is the best of them BUT it filters out porn and stuff like that.
207.225.209.66
151.197.0.38
151.197.0.39
151.202.0.84
4.2.2.1
4.2.2.2
4.2.2.3
4.2.2.4
4.2.2.5
4.2.2.6
-----end-----

It turns out the isp's dns servers are usaly overloaded with clients makeing lots of lag.

(you can change the dns ip in your roughters settings) If you didn't know

To state that a DNS server configuration can speed overall net traffic by 80% is simply not correct. The role of the DNS service is to resolve domain names to IP addresses. Once a DNS server returns the IP information that is requested of it the connection to the web server is made and speed relies on network congestion (usually ISP ability to handle traffic load) and the ability of the web server to handle the volume.

The only way that a DNS configuration will improve sustained network traffic is if you are constantly jumping from one domain to another and repeatedly making DNS requests. Even then, you don't know if the request is being forwarded from one DNS server to another. A DNS request is only satisfied by the server if the domain information exists in that server's hosts file. If it isn't the request is forwarded to another DNS server.

It's true that a more responsive DNS server will help create a faster connection to an end server by resolving the name faster but that is where it ends. If you experienced an 80% improvement then you had a terrible DNS server that you were using and probably had to wait a long time to establish initial connections. Most people would not achieve anything close to that.

JMB: you are completely right. I was excited and defanly over exzagerated it quite a bit.

My problem was when sending an adress the dns server would hang for 6 to 20 seconds so for me yes %80 is realistic.

Thank you for giving those valid points.

I was just about to edit my post now, I dont have to.

Well, and then my ISP happens to have the best DNS-servers in my country...

Furthermore I would clearly refuse to put in a static DNS in my router configuration since you never know when they decide to shut a DNS server down or when a DNS server is outdated and has to do three more hops to solve the URL you are seeking.
Tell your home-net that your router is the DNS-server, he will get a fresh DNS after the 24h disconnect and all will be fine.

I think Icewolf works as one of those people you call up because your 'net wont work.

I gave up on trying to speed up my crappy DSL and just found a long range antenna for my WiFi card. I bet you can guess what I'm going to do with that.

Thats right I'm going to go to the store and randomly hit people with a loaf wonder bread.

Just kidding, I'm going to go for a nice wardrive around the park.

ah.. I got 100mbps so...yea..Don't need anything faster

And I got a good ISP, MTS.

I love calling the ISP too, I've done it once or twice, really fun, I think I waited for like 20-30 minutes, but got to listen to the funny music

If your ever bored, this'll make you more bored, but hey, it's worth the experience, having them tell you they can't help you or they know someone who can help you, etc etc
