Default Making a game

Hi guys

I always fancied myself as a bit of a writer, and since I was a child I have always thought that if I had a crack team of programmers and artists I could make a better game than Sierra or lucusarts any day of the week.

Here’s my proposal

I have written a basic script for a adventure/quest game I have called legends and lore, I have very little programming experience, Now there is a site called www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ it will teach you and give you all the things necessary to make an adventure game. I have read the tutorial on this site, so I'm quite sure I'm capable in doing the programming side of things. My problem is the drawing - I can’t draw to save my life.

Anyone who has an artistic bone in their body ( needs to able to draw in paint or something similar) who feels like making the game to rival all games and quite possibly make people say Sierra who.

Could you kindly contact me at [EDITED]?

Kind regards
Richard Francis

I've been working on an AGS game for a month or so now.
It's a good engine once you get yr head around it...

Not that hard to use - just follow the demo game and the tutorials. You don't need to worry too much about graphics expertise, but you do need to worry about how to make things look their best in the limited resolution/size/colours that you are allowed to use.

If you've read the tutorials, I advise actually doing them. Things are a *lot* different in practise than in theory...

I've been using the pcx sprites and stuff from other games, as my game is about - well... something to do with games, and drawing the backgrounds as sketched (in the "real world" I have used gif'd photo's and warped them, so the real world seems less real than the gaming one).

You can get past your artistic limitations if you think of other routes to take.

If you want help from these forums, I'd suggest sticking around and getting to know people.
People are usually more likely to respond to a request that is backed up with some kind of personal stuff, than a cold call from a stranger. (I usually hang the phone up)
Even then, I think you'll be lucky. But you never know...

Why not spend some time here, use your access to PM's instead of email, and ask in the art forums?

First of all, nobody says the sprites have to be perfect and finished before you're done with the gameplay part itself.
As a beginning, stick to anything that looks remotely representative of the characters/items etc, you can always replace them later.
