Microsoft Security Essentials vs (insert prog here)
So since a few days it's possible to get Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) for free.
As a sort of testing period I'm currently using both MSE & Avast (and logic thinking) as my antiviral solution. This IS working fine on the only problem that the combination is using a load or RAM. (It's still in acceptable limits) So I'm wondering. Who else is using MSE, in what combination (when applicable), why they would/have (not) switch(ed) to it. etc. And If I should keep Avast with it's yearly re-registration, continue with only MSE or keep them both. I'm just wondering what your opinions are about M$ newest tool to attempt to protect us.

I have a good firewall (ZoneAlarm free) and didnt have a virus since like 10 years, that makes up 10% of my internet security.
The rest of 90% is not browsing into dangerous site with warez or porn, means having global common sense what you download. Anti-virus can eat my socks, I'm not going to hog up my PC with that shit, that eats loads of RAM and makes my fps in games drop. |

Avira Antivir does the job fine I think, with little resources demand, and it's for free. As for firewall I'm using Comodo Personal Firewall, which is also free and is great on itself, as good as other have-to-pay firewalls out there. So I see no real need to switch to Microsoft's tools for that.

I've recently moved from AVG Free to MSE. No change as far as I can see. The resident software for MSE doesn't even use 3MB memory. I'm pretty happy with it and in Windows 7 feels more integrated than AVG did.
