reviewing other threads at this board (i`m maybe wrong, so..) i found a comment:

calibre your soundcard in the specific synd.bat. . i guess this means you have to find out your soundcards setting (my first obstacle) and then fix this inside *synd.bat*. (where i like to mention i have no idea)

this shall work...you may find the thread in the *games*-corner(favorite oldies?..)

no way to play it without sound, i never know when to open fire. i can hear no: *freeze, police!*
already tried that but in DOS mode i dont' know either what my sound card is. i know on old computer it worked. on this one it should be 220 irq 5 dma 1
but it doesen't work.

Try IRQ 7, and if that still doesn't help, A 240 IRQ 7 DMA 3, or experiment with the three (try setting each one for itself, leave others like before)

Nope, I didn't use this version but the one I have (and had before) on my collection-CD. There shouldn't be many differences, I guess, if at all...

Has anyone experience with the onboard sound of a ECS K7S5A pro mainboard? I get no sound, neither with DOS Box nor native XP.

the difference is that the version on CD i used to have (it was borrowed) worked on my computer.

i doubt that long file names are a problem. i use winxp: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Syndicate and the game works fine...except for the occasional closing of the game when too many time bombs go off >_<

but i havent tweaked the bat file so i dont have sound as well...might as well try that

edit: and i dont use dosbox for syndicate
