I'm a brit and I actually respected what Clinton was doing. He got the country out of debt and all the Republicans did back was slag him off and put him in a trial for something that is NOT illegal. At all.

The government of the USA at the moment is a pretty bad one. Crusading around countries which contain oil and also people with a history of being harsh to invaders and occupiers is not a good idea. What has made the whole thing worse is that now that Galloway (a british politician) has started saying bad things about them the Republicans claim he is a lier, a cheater all of that.

Transparent ploys like that just offend me, it's easy to see that what they are trying to do to people like Galloway who have a good point is to cripple their reputation.

After September 11th, I had some pity for the US government. On the other hand, mere moments after this, Bush decided (not very well IMO) to pretty much put a spy at every street corner after what may well have been a random attack.

Labelling all terrorists as Islamic Militants did not really help their cause. One bit.

He may claim to be a righteous crusader, but what he forgets is that 'his' country was only created by protestants, who were persecuted against, who then wiped out all of the indiginous people. I bet that probably isn't what you'd hear in an american school, but it's what it is. They were essentially terrorists.

9/11 brought them a little sympathy, but was then exploited (and still is) to try and make people more patriotic. Campaigns like that disgust me. I for one am sick and tired of terrorists being labelled as Islamic, Bush interfiering in other people's problems and many other things.

You want an example of his meddling? OK, Isreal and Palestine. That's a war that is so old that it is MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE. Trying to make it turn around with a bloody wall and some democratic talks with Bush and Co. will not sort it out.

The same goes for Iraq. One Bush just couldn't make it! So the son steps in!

3 years away - Gulf War : Jeb Edition?

If they already have Saddam Hussain then why are they still in the country? To make peace? Peace does not come out of soldiers on every street. Are people surprised every day when someone blows themselves up?

No. And it won't stop, I tell you this now. It probably won't stop until all of the soldiers go away and the people can repair their buildings and infrastructure. The Americans essentially bombed an MEDC back into the stone age. I am particuarly saddened when normal civilians are 'collateral damage' when they only want two or three 'terrorist suspects'.

Maybe they should send their 'crack troops' in instead of B-52s.

And maybe my own government needs to think about its priorities. It's putting ?3.5 billion (about $6 billion) into modernising the army and only ?1.5 billion (about 2.5 billion) into HIV research. What are they going to do, kill all of the people with HIV and then invest in autopsies?

Enough said.

I am Hungarian, and if anybody can say a cetral-european comment about this, it's me (no offense neighbours )

The USA is a mysterious and amazing place to almost everyone sine it was founded way back in history. People called it The New World. A palce where your dreams can come true, and you can live comfortably. Since and after the world wars, the USA government just picked up this role, and developed it further. "The American Dream", yeah, thats it. But what is exatly the American Dream? Remember the time after the WW? When huge posters spread the governments propaganda about how the "real Americans" should live? The patriotic agenda? Much like communism in liberal democratic coating. Just think about this for a while and you will realise

I feel sorry about the most of the good americans, becouse their government just plays with them, and forces them to support the ideologys of some power hungry idiotic politicians. The people of America are the victims if this stupid campaign for power. Bullying the less storng countries and foce the American ideology to them by threatening them by their huge military. This is disgusting. I don't hate the people od the USA, I hate the government and the false ideology behing it. :not_ok:

Now they are gone too far with this war for oil under the clack of "terrorist war". They are not fighting against terrorists, they need the oil and influence over the middle east. Sombody must stop them, but sady most countries on earth are either hypnotised and sympathise with USA or just threathened by it.
"If you are no the USA's friend then you are an enemy and need to be crushed cuz you are thretening peace and therefore you are a terrorist"

Another thing that may seem but not as much as it seems:

Do you know about Nostradamus ? I hope so. Then you should know about his visions of the future from the middle ages, that actually came true. Like the name of Napoleon and his wars, the WWII and Hitler and some other important stuff that he foretold in the 16. century(if I'm correct).
As he said, there will be three anti-Christ's. The fist was Napoleon, the second was Hitler, and the third one is just to come. He said it would come from the middle east and it will start the WW3 wich will ravage through 44 years... A war where alomst the 1/3 of earths population will die immideatly and more will through the war. It will be bloddy and gory war, but after that, and era of peace and harmony will come to earth and there will be no wars or suffering after that...

I think we are on the brink of that war right now. The middle-eastern countries are fed up with the USA and so are China, Korea and others. I don't want to seem paranoid, but just think this over. That Nostradamus guy have some wierdly, surprisingly accurate prophecies.

I just heard something on the news, which I hope is just a bad joke, but if anyone can verify this....

USA has decided that future travellers to America needs to have passports with a retina scan. (They have for a long time been taking fingerprints of everyone seeking admission into the states.) Now they want to make it absolutely sure that no "terrorists" enters the country. So all newcomers need a retina scan on their passports.

Why?
Because a retina scan is very difficult to fake, that's why. So, everyone without such a pass is considered a "terrorist" and with the Patriot Act looming in the background, a mark of "terrorist" will surely put a damper on your holiday.

The government had given a deadline for this, and that was October this year. However, as different contries started to argue and saying that this was not possible, the American government graciously extended the deadline...

This law will only be used on foreigners. No Americans need to changer their passes. So basically... EVERYONE in the freakin' world need a retina scan passport to get into America somewhere in the future.

If this is true, then I am mighty worried. :eeeeeh:

Ehm, newsflash, they want to do the same here in Europe.
The new ID cards and passports here in belgium already have a chip with your entire background on it, and according to our premier "this is the first step in making Europe safe from terrorists"

You may use brackets all you want when you write terrorists, but the time to keep your eyes closed and believe you're safe wherever you go is over, and even Belgium is beginning to see that.

About Nostradamus prophecies, has anyone actually read them, not their interpretations but what he wrote...
From what I understood, basically however history would unfold, you could interpret his prophecies as correct on some level...

On topic...
The USA is the worlds bully, if it wouldn't be them, it would be someone else, but probably since Rome, no country had such power over the world, this will change however due to China...
About American people, I have nothing against them, every person is an individual for himself, but it seems that those that fit Gregors perception of average American are mostly ones in the Midwest...

I read them in a no-interpretated edition and sound really obscure and evocative... just open to every interpretation!
Maybe they are not predictions, but good poems...

About american people i think that they are like every other people around the world with a culture that have good aspect and bad ones too...

erm.. the british empire ........
back to the topic of what we think about the american empire though i really dont like them. the majority of rude people i have met online have been americans, although my only connection with actual american peoples has been tourists who come over here.
i dont think we should have reconised bush as there president. there was to much confusion surrounding his original victory. if that had happened in any other country there would have been an international inquiry and the possibility of suspending trade. and the second time he won he won by a tiny margin. when you are fixing an election you make sure it is only by a tiny margin, people are less likly to get suspicios.
also i met some americans in bulgaria. my god they were noisy! you could here them talking from a bloody massive distance.

So you base everything you know about americans on your online experiences and tourists?
Are you aware that Berlusconi wanted to limit Italian tourism so the country wouldn't have to deal with obese, loud and above all rude german tourists? So based on those germans I could state that I hate germans, if I follow your train of thought all Dutch are smelly rude trailercan tourists since Belgium is flooded by camping-tourists from the Netherlands.

The problem with Americans is that they expect ABSOLUTELY NOBODY ELSE TO KNOW ENGLISH UNLESS THEY ARE WHITE.

For example, I went to the Indian restaurant down my street (it's extremely good) and people were chatting with the waiters and ordering meals etc.

Then some americans walk in, sit down at the table and say in a very loud way 'CAN... WE.... HAVE.... SOME.... FOOD?' before then making a gesture of them eating....

The waiter then, deservedly, took the piss and said 'YES... OF.... COURSE.... YOU.... CAN, WE'RE.... NOT.... STUPID.... YOU.... KNOW....' and then walked off.

That was hilarious....
