I cant get this to work. I have mounted the image but it never saves sound settings and keeps asking for the fantasy general CD.

OS: windows vista

mount lines:

z:>mount c c:\images\

z:>imgmount d c:\***\fg.iso -t iso (i shortened the iso image name in order to properly use it in dosbox lines)

d:>cd fantasy_

Inside fantasy_ there is the fg directory and an install file. There is another install file inside the fg directory. I think both are the same. Running either of them ends with the message "unable to open help.txt". I cant save sound files and it asks the CD, but i think thats because it really didnt install.

I tried to mount with combined iso AND cdrom. Still the same result.

I didnt tamper with the dosbox settings, but could you clarify what do you mean with inputs to install/run game?

Your virtual C: mount isn't ideal under Vista.

Did you alter the extension?
If the image is an ISO in the archive then there is something wrong with it, as Fantasy General is a mixed mode CD, ( I have ythe original CD), can only be a valid image if: BIN/CUE or CloneCD mixed mode image.
ISO can't hold the separate music tracks.

Gonna see what the archive size is ..... back in a second or two.

82MB? Can't be good, my CD is some 413MB.
I suppose the submitter didn't knew how to create a valid image, he has only the data track, misses most of the CD.

Nope, that's completely wrong.
Root should be music tracks + install bat+FG folder (and eventually ptchsnd folder, depends of the version).

I'm affraid you'll have to find yourself another download source, the CD image from riccso isn't good at all. (or maybe Ermuli haz it....?)

When you start the image tool you get the needed info:


See all those tracks?
Track 01 is data track
All the others are audio tracks
So this can only be a valid image if BIN/CUE

BTW, you can always use BIN/CUE, even for CDs without audio tracks.

Ive got ermuli´s upload. It has the intro and music. But it doesnt have the speech. Is it a problem with the upload or my settings?

edit:
ops. It has speech now. I just forgot to install to c:. Its working properly now.
