Yay lets suck out the little inovation that gaming industry has...
By his logic all the games made should be like sims or something like that, and genres like strategies and RPGs should be minimised...

Yep. "More mass appeal" usually means "crappier".

Makes more sense for the producers, but for us - NO!

The challenge lies in creating a game that is high quality AND appealing to the masses! If the movie industry can pull it of on occasion (allthough there are always people who dislike a movie everyone else loves) why shouldn't the game industry? Commercialism can lead to qualityloss, but can provide a simulus as well. The more lucrative the business is and the broader the crowd it appeals, the more chance there is talented indiviuduals will persue a carrier in the game industry!

Stop making violent computer games, so why has Lucas made the latest Star Wars more violent and less excessible when compared to the original trilogy. Yet some of the merchandise will probably aimed for those who can't even see the film officially

Yeah, that violence thing just seems plain stupid.

Quote:
"If we as an industry aspire to the same cultural and artistic credibility and stature achieved by other major forms of entertainment, our creative community and our publishers will have to eschew some of the historically easy and successful formulas for commercial success," he said.
Because as we all know, movies and music are never violent, and if they are, they certainly aren't main stream.

hahaha good 1, i think i detect the note of sarcasm. i think its odd tho.
1: u get chick flicks an guy movies, we gonna get more girl games?
2: girl targeted games tend to get crappy sales
3: (please dont hit me girls) girl brains work in 2d, mens in 3d, is why men are better map readers and 3d fps players, but i know some girls that would whoop your behind at tekken (and ther are girls who are good at fps, jus they the minority)
4: i thought the esa were just lawyers? now they are trying to dictate a succsessfull indusstry that has growen on the massive sales of fps?
5: the souloution would seem to be more point n click adventure games an rpgs, yay!!

Hah - all they wanna do is to convince everybody that there is only one kind of games that should still be made. That would mean all the games would be more or less the same and very popular. But to succeed they need to eliminate the good games - thus ESA is on the campain to exterminate certain game genres (Turn based games, Interactive fiction/Text based, Board game coversions - board games should disapear anyway, adventure games,...)
So we'd only be left with Sims and FPS - so ultimately we'd just get one single game.
They are preparing to brainwash us.

LOL LOL LOL
