Perhaps it is, but that's not for us to decide, unfortunately.

Anyway, I don't want a big arguament with you. I just think it's strange that companies put a lot of work into making games, then don't let people buy that game. All that work has gone to waste!
I'm with you! I'm a fanatic monkey-fan!

But i think that they don't sell THE GAMES anymore because they are thinking in wasting too much money for the distribution... and even for the marketing! You should know that managers think that nothing can be sold without marketing and it cost too much...

We can only hope... in the return of our idol: Guybrush

Its called greed.

Many people and companies will not part with stuff because its theirs, and they paid money getting it. Even if its out of date and old and no one would buy it, they still consider it theirs and still remember that they paid money for it.

Thus software companies have the mentality that even if its junk, its not worth giving it away and can only be sold. Sadly corporate mentality is that way many times.

Heck my mom is the same way. She had a old wooden bench she bought and stained. Now, she's had it 10 years and its old, rotten in some places, sits in the yard under the tree not getting used. My neighbor asked to have it to put in her yard, and my mon was like "well how much is she going to pay me for it". Even though she paid about 50 bucks for it 10 years ago, she still won't "give" away a piece of junk that is hers.

Now companies really should use their heads. If it is a game they actually sell, like maybe in a group pack or multi pack, then sure, dont give it away, but if its a game that in NO way makes them money anymore, nor will it EVER make them money in the future, then such games should be given away like on free sites, because that gets people playing the old games, and in turn might make them buy your new ones. Greed of course gets in their eyes and makes them stupid. They dont realize that old freeware games, given out for people to play, is called ADVERTISING!

Yeah it particularly urks me about Lucasarts and Sierra.

Especially Sierra.

The company of old was awesome...back in the quest days. But now all of their new stuff is crap (mostly). In fact, the last Sierra game I actually bought was Half-Life..and I can't even remember and other memorable Sierra games besides HL. The company has gone to heck and I just don't understand the ideas behind keeping their actual good games from being played.

Hell I wouldn't mind paying for them. Make compilations for each series...add some specials in such as adding in voices on the earlier non voice games...or even refine some of the work...maybe even do remakes.

There are TONS of people who would buy these..and it wouldnt cost them much at all to produce/make them.

When the games are still for sale, that makes more sense..but 90% of the games protected you can't even get. What is the point in that..unless they either a) intended to remake them or B) intend to sell them in the future.

It really saddens me.

I lot of us WANT to buy these games, and the companies would have no problem selling them.

Some people have internet access and can use things like eBay. But eBay is still off-limits to everyone with no internet acces. Even then, it is often hard to find the game you want to buy, and disks are usually 2nd hand and scratched.

I don't know why companies make it so hard for us to buy their games. It is very sad that they let all their hard work go to waste.
