Morrowind all the way! :Brain:

I love the open - endedness of the games as well as the world around you. I also love the view angles and the fact that you can play it through without needing side-kicks to aid you in your quest. (I like to kill monsters without assistance from some jerk who just ends up getting in the way and dying... :ranting: )

The graphics are great and the characters very interesting.

I would love to see one or two different features though - greater ability for defence to be controlled by the user (being able to block, parry etc) and more speech (too lazy to read all the stuff they say! )

This was supposed to be a poll about NEW RPG's!!
So that meant no BG, no EoB, and so on.But the masses were too strong to control, and the poll had to be modified it seems...

The question was about "Favorite RPG". It is mentioned nowhere that it must be new or old.

Well, it'd be interesting to separate this into console-style RPGs and PC style RPGs, because there is a definite dichotomy. As for console RPGs, I'd go with Suikoden 2 -- just a brilliant game. Far better than FF7, which was pretty but overrated to me.

I voted for KOTOR out of the RPGs listed here.........to me the most important aspect of an RPG is character interaction/development, interesting NPCs, and a great story. I thought Morrowind was overrated in that regard.......it was a great game, but not necessarily a great RPG in the way I look at them. The story itself wasn't bad, but it wasn't integrated into the gameplay very well; it usually didn't feel like you were a part of any greater story. And almost all of the NPCs were just copies of one another with different dialogue, you never really got a sense of personality from them. That was my problem with Morrowind -- a huge world with lots of options, but without an exceptional story or character involvement.

I liked the Baldur's Gate games, but I just liked KOTOR better.

I'll admit I never played Fallout 1 or 2, but the whole concept wasn't very appealing to me.

And finally, I agree that Arcanum should make this list. I still think I'd vote for KOTOR, but Arcanum had an original concept and did a great job with it.

I loved Morrowind for the reason, that I was able to imagine my role in the story before I actually started the main storyline, by only following the sidequests and talking to NPCs/reading the many books available. For all I know I could be the savior of the people or their doom. To be honest I still haven't finished the game, so I don't know how it actually turns out, so don't spoil it please.

I love how games manage to leave parts of the story to your imagination, similiar to Planescape: Torment, that keeps you guessing for a large part as who/what you really are. Much better than your usual "hero has to slay the evil endboss" story.
