Sorry, you're right..
I forgot to mention that the latest official patch is needed, the beta patch is also a must if you want to play online.

this is a red alert 1 topic, not red alert 2. if your having problems with RA2, post in troubleshooting.

ah, maybe you just have no administrative priviledge to configure the settings on windows xp? just my 2 cents

Hola,
I have finally decided to install Red Alert with the expansion pack (Aftermath) onto my computer. I used to have it on my Windows 95 Emachine, but ever since we got a Gateway with Windows XP I haven't even tried to install Red Alert. I just recently got into a craze for a good RTS and C&C Generals runs too slow on my computer, so I tried to install RA. However, everytime I try I get a Setup Warning message that reads as follows:

Windows 5.1 is currently running. This version of Red Alert is a Windows 95 only product.

I click either OK or X and it closes out and will not install. I understand what you guys are doing to fix your problems (at least, I think I do), but I can't even get the directory file onto my computer because it won't allow me to install. If you have any suggestions as to what I should do, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Jorge.

Yeah, I did that on my setup program (InstallShield or something like that) and tried it again, however, it did the same thing. I might to find some other compatibility issues with it or get a new setup program, but I haven't had much time lately, thanks for the input.
