hey, southpark movie was also over a hour and it was still same good quality as the series imo

Yes, but SouthPark's writers have never had any problems coming up with plotlines to fill their 25 minute episodes, and were able to come up with enough material for the 80 minute film to be plotted properly, too.

The Simpson's writers, on the other hand, don't always have enough material in their plotlines, and thus they need to rely on stupid plot devices to waste a few minutes and squeeze in a 'celebrity' guest voice or two. So because their writers struggle to put together a 25 minute episode, I think they'll struggle even more to put together an 80 minute film.

IMO it's not worth paying for it unless i know it's any good. sorry if that makes people think i'm a selfish git but i don't want to pay for a movie that isn't worth the money that you paid to enter the cinema/buy the dvd. the simpsons got boring ages back (they have worn the characters out)

The writing for the movie was started about 10 years ago. I expect it won't be as bad as current Simpsons but I still won't be expecting a whole lot.

The Family Guy movie sucked as well.

That the script has remained unfinished for ten years doesn't sound like good news at all, rather like horrible news.

It was brought up a couple of times in the commentary of the DVD's for season 5, 6 or 7. I can't remember if they said they started writing or just set up some possible plots or layouts. Either way I think it's good news as at least we know it was started by some of the best writers Simpsons has ever had, but the new writers have had a lot of time mess around with it.

That it was started back then could of course be good news, provided something of the good old writers' contribution is recognizable by now. What sounds horrible is this project's having been stinking around dozens of Fox's executives to-do piles and paper bins for so many years.
