I'd actually think that Dave (at least Dave 1) will run on any Windows without any problems at all and without needing any "DOSBOXes". It runs on my XP "raw". Why would 2K be different?

Try running it from the command line?
start->run-> and then type "CMD" then you will be in the command line. Im not sure how it works on 2k, and if any of these ideas are correct, but when you are in the command line, find the file. (DIR to see the directories, CD directory to change to that directory. find dave.exe, and then just type dave! |

Dangerous Dave is nothing more than brilliant. I have thoughts about remaking it in a 3d game, but i am not sure. Download it, anyway. No better way you can spend 72 kb in .
(Some fun facts about Dangerous Dave: Dangerous Dave [the character, not the game] was the first one to be in a Sidescroller engine on the PC. The first map was a clean rip off from Super Mario... You can download that demo (The first non-edited) here: DOWNLOAD included is a level editor - although i couldnt get any sense out of it) /Anlino |

So that's what that game was called! I remember playing it 5-10 years ago on someone else's PC!
That said, none of us could ever get past level 3, since we couldn't figure out how to activate the jet pack! We tried holding down and tapping jump.... What are the buttons?

you know, this is not the 1st dangerous dave game...
apogee released DD1, 2 and 3 that were made by ID software as shareware... the 3 had EGA gfx, and EXTRA SMOOTH console like scrolling, also they had sb/adlib sound and they were more complex than this one... k: |

You are refering to the THE ALL-NEW MISADVENTURES OF DANGEROUS DAVE trilogy, which came after this one. The fact that graphics usualy improve with new versions of game should clue you in on that.
