It sucks people die from such stupid mistakes but you can't tempt fate like that, can you. When reading the original article and you mentioning another car was right behind them, I already knew they were racing (I mean, they were speeding WAY too fast and another car was behind them - it doesn't take a genius to realise the car behind them was speeding as well and two cars driving as fast as they can = race).

It's one thing putting yourself at risk but when you got three passengers who rely on you, I'm afraid I got little sympathy. It's only by sending out a serious signal about how wrong this is, that others may realise it's "not done".

A few years back, a motor cyclist died because he was doing 140 in a 70km/h zone (which is quite a feat). He slammed into a truck while overtaking and instantly died. He was 18. During the funeral, the priest decided to give a lecture about the dangers of reckless behaviour such as this to the anger of many of people who had come to the funeral. "How dare he speak ill of him during the funeral!" some commented on the news (yes it got onto the news). But then the news reporter walked to the parents of the victim and said "how do you feel about what the priest said" and they said "Even if it reminds just a single person why not to make the same mistake, it was worth it". And I can tell you the parents WILL feel anger among their grief for the mistake this boy made which got one friend killed.

As harsh as what I said above was, it's still sad, especially for the family & friends of the victims who now have to suffer because of his reckless behaviour.

The thing is, Red... It is not harsh at all. It is simply stating the obvious reality of things.

The problem originate when other people can't look into the depth of reality. A lot of today society problems originate from this problem.
