I just posted a reply on the might and magic forum, and one of my words (A..) was magically changed into another word (behind). Now I understand that some control is not something to be afraid of. But you guys seem a bit too touchy for me. A.. is a word an 8 year old would use. Are you such sissies ?

I'd agree with you about a$$ (especially since "arse" is not censored) but some words (four letter ones mostly) should be and are censored (not the c-word for some reason though). I think that whoever made the censors jsut got a bit carried away and started censoring lots of words. Besides, you never know who might be on the site and who might be offended so it's better so be on the safe side.

the thing i find with censors is they are generally there to protect the adult population. what i mean by this is adults only swear when the situation deems it. wheras kids get on the net and becuse there parents tell them off for swearing the netspeak involves overetly gratuitos usage of the aforementioned naughty words.

The "c-word" is not banned since the board searches for specific character strings in your post, not reading the meaning. Therefore it would for example produce ****pit instead of cockpit (I saw the board auto-censorship do that myself elsewhere).

actually if it's anything like the one on reloaded (which it clearly is) you can decide whether to do a tight or loose match so as to avoid that. And "****" isn't the c-word.

I always assumed it was just an automatic setting with our host board...but I guess not. I'm fine with the little swearing, because I figure even little things like @$$ bring down morale. I'm curious as to what all of the censors are...
