Oh, sued! OK, it makes a lot more sense now. And that one's accurate; there are far too many lawyers over here making far too much money off of other people's lack of personal responsibility.

As for the roads: in the Plains where I live now, it's very much as you describe. I lived in the Appalachians before I moved out here, though, and the roads are anything but straight there. Compare here to there.

The British climate is very similar to the Dutch climate - a perfect clone I dare say.
Five hours ago, it rained.
And a few weeks ago, round Christmas, it snowed, causing many accidents, one dead person and a lot of serious injuries.
Two weeks ago, the entire road network became slippery out of nothing, and again a lot of accidents and death.

Nah, due to our location the British climate is extremely unpredictable. In many other parts of the world (including mainland Europe), you can be fairly sure the climate will stick to a set pattern on most days (eg, it's sunny all day and then rains in the evening), but in Britain the weather is verey strange, that's why we've got an international reputation for talking about the weather a lot.
