The ancient art of Jumping in Pop2
Hiking Viking wrote:
"...That reminds me, the jumping system really sucks in PoP2. In the prequel, the jumping system was much better. It auto-adjusted the run steps so that you could always jump as close to edges as possible. In PoP2, if your steps have wrong rhythm, it might not be possible to jump over a big gap. In the level 11 or 12 in a specific place colliding with a half-opened gate before jumping would always doom the jump to fail. However, both games had this annoying feature or bug that when your legs or middle body hits an edge in the end of a jump, you might not be able to grab that edge anymore...." Well, I agree the jumping is different than in PoP1, but not that much. It took quite some experiments and I was close to throwing my PC out of the window, but finally I found out how to master most of the jumps: In PoP1, it required MORE THAN 2 FLOOR-TILES to set up a running jump, in PoP2 you get along with EXACTLY 2 TILES. That is if you stand on a two tile wide ledge, you can do a running jump if you start the run from the far edge. The drawback is that the timing window for running jumps has become quite narrow with a high chance of jumping either too early or not at all when trying to take the gaps as they come at full speed like in PoP1. Luckily, you hardly need to do so at all in Pop2 as in most cases you can proceed slowly. If you place the prince (nearly) exactly two tiles away from the desired jump-off-point before starting the running jump he won't mix it up - not even the last jump at the level with the horsie or at the 2nd level at the flame/birdmen-temple. |

You're wrong. Gameplay HAS changed. It has got monsters (instead of your average every day human, human, which every other later prince of persia game lacked), different puzzles and better swordfights (ctrl button instead of shift, which lets you unsheathe your sword at ANY time). TTFN (ta ta for now...)

Hard moment for yog
Do you remember the battle with immortal skeleton on the rocking bridge?
And following crack of the bridge? The moment I never forget: Sweating yog waiting for the crack and trying to catch the safe edge, returning back asap! Nice game..:cheesy: |
