I finally acquired the PC version of the game MAG!!! which is a business simulation about making a computer magazine.

I already had the Amiga version of it, but since I have no Amiga anymore I had to run it via WinUAE. I could successfully install it but starting it would give me an error of unkown command, maybe someone of you knows something about that emulator and could help.

But the main question is about the PC version.
I tried both VDMS and DosBox and both give me an error.
VDMS says that I am running my CPU in V86 Mode and I have to run it in Real Mode.
I know what it means and that MS DOS runs in Real Mode, but I would like a way to solve this problem to run in on DosBox.
DosBox quits with the following error message: CPU:GPR5: Illegal Call 7.

So if anyone knows how to solve this problem, I would appretiate it.

Didn't help.
VDMS gives me error about not running in Real Mode and DosBox exits with following message in the other DosBox window: CPU:GPR5: Illegal Call 7.

Any info on the PC version? Sounds promising for a game...

It is a german game, but there is an english version of it.
I could not find an english review of it though, so here is the link to the only german one I found (pictures speak international ).
Mag!!!

For me it was always one of the best of its kind, very detailed game and you get a close feeling to your company, which is important for me.
Have to say that it is very difficult to run a profitable mag in that game, but I suppose it wouldn't be easier in real life.

You start at the Atari / C64 age and can go up to 1994 I think, so starting with a PC only mag at the beginning wouldn't be that wise because of the lack of any games to review.
There are also a few original game titles (slightly changed) with original PC Games or PC Joker review but if you really invest some time in it you can add all the games and even staff to the game that you would like to see with the editor.
It has also a prebuild import option to load editor files from fan sites, but I don't know of any fan sites existing anymore.

Well, I would love to continue the troubleshooting part.

Maybe I am not providing enough information about this, if so, could you point me into the right direction on what could be helpful to solve this issue?

I usually try to solve problems myself and so far have succeeded with mostl old games, but I have got no time on my hands right now and would love to get this oldie running.

It is possible that it is a totally different issue other than the Real Mode, because I actually thought DosBox was emulating it anyways and it was only the VDMS that gave that error (I had stated it wrong in the first post before, edited now).

Just wanted to give my last word on this issue, I managed to get it running by using DosBox 0.65, which seems to solve some issues with DOS4GW enhanced games.
The game doesn't run very stable though, but saving often makes it endurable.
