What's your world? What is your definition of "world"?

The way I see it, the Earth will end slowly, just how it started. We'll choke the life out of everything and, when we eventually sap ALL of the natural resources, we'll move on, leaving the Earth a barren wasteland, spread across our galaxy and eventually the universe, continuing on the path we've already chosen.

The universe will end when all that energy eventually goes catatonic and either implodes or explodes on itself.

Besides, a nuclear strike won't end the "world", since the Earth'll still be there. Armageddon used to mean something, but now it's just the religious explanation for whatever may happen.

After I die anyway, probably as a result of all this overpopulation. Overgrazing is already rife as is very intensive farming that removes nutrients form the soil, we will end up with the elite who can get their food from hydroponics centres and suchlike. The downtrodden masses will overthrow them and they will either do a good job of governing the earth, in which case the process will repeat in a few decades time, or they will you a bad job and everyone will stavre. They may be a few people left after this but they will be back in the stone age and will eventually end up in the same place, either that or there will just be tribal wars and that would probably result in exitiction.

He was talking about the exictinction of the human race, not the destruction of earth. 1000 years would probably be right, that's the amount of time it would take for the tribal wars to come to a brutal end. But I'll be dead by then so I don't care what happens.
