Not really an obscure flick either. One not so successful big production. Quite lyrical in comparison to most... The hero (performed by a famous actor as I said) is kind of an anti-hero actually... Before the final act at least... Can't think of more hints that aren't giveaways, there's already quite some defining information on the table, will give you time to investigate, see you tomorrow evening folks.

No, but good try. Shane is lyrical, the sentence fits it even...
But Shane was very successful, was released in 1953... OK if someone had watched it he'd have answered, so GIVEAWAY: Starring Robert Mitchum Come on Robert Mitchum didn't have time to perform in many movies in 1959 alone, the answer is at anyone's fingertips. No need for more hints now of course.
