I actually like the idea of a proper sized handset for a cellphone. It may just be me, but I have difficulty with the tiny speaker and tiny mic, too close together on a tiny cellphone. If I had to get a cellphone, I would be tempted to put the innards into a wall mount version of the AT&T "black beauty" phone (black with a chrome switch hook, a proper handset, and a dial [converting pulses to tones is a non-trivial, but simple exercise]) and hang it off of my belt. I would have to get a seperate battery pack to power the electric ringer, but some sacrifices must be made to be truly retro.

I think its the funniest thing ever. This project is so funny infact the phone isnt even a problem.

Shunk is right, it doesnt look as though itd do anything cept make it bigger and bulkier, but i have to admit the result is hilarious

I once made a phone out of pork. it worked and everything it looked really good, but i had to get rid of it in the end because it was Crackling.
