Good luck, school-years are easily the worst years of your life, regardless of what anyone else says.
Hopefully you're not in the kind of school I was, where all the courses were mandatory and you couldn't pick which ones you took. I spent years of my life studying things I didn't care about and don't remember now. The only course that interested me was History, and that was also mostly useless for what I'm studying now.

Lulu_Jane: Where in E Asia are you headed Arlesya? There's a few abandonians around this neck of the woods - you'd be surprised

Arlesya:
Well, Lulu (btw, that was my childhood nickname ) that is a secret I'll keep until time comes *pam pam paaaaaam*. Now, seriously, Tulac already found out. Maybe I'll just tell the world when things get more arraged. But where are these other people? Where are you from, btw?

Icewolf: *quotes Arlesya*:I thought I was sorrounded by Eastern Europeans, Scandinavians , Finns and some Americans and Aussies that appear once in a while!*finishes quote*
Icewolf: Wouldn't these be one group...?
Arlesya: Aha!!! I knew it would get controversial!!! No, Finns aren't really Scandinavians. They just happen to be up there and that's it. Seems like Mighty Midget agrees with me on that one. k: hahahaaha

Icewolf: And what about central and western Europeans?! Germans, Brits, Spainards, Portugeses....
Arlesya: I don't see you guys so much. Where are you? And where are my fellow colonial Portuguese?
I am joking, but in reality for a newbee is hard to know where ppl come from when they don't post the location in their profile.

Icewold: *quote Arlesya* I'm moving to Eastern Asia in two months I will spend a year close to you, baby *finishes quote*
Iceworlf: What's going on here...?
Arlesya: Aha! Alas, another mistery

Mighty Midget: Fiinns are not Scandinavians
BTW: If there are any Swedes here: Give us back Jâmtland and Hârjedalen :P

Arlesya:
LMAO

OBS: For some reason the quote thing didn't work and it's so freaking confusing now!! LMAO!!! I changed, but it's still like we were all drunk in some pub

I found infomation that Finland just geographically doesn't belong to Scandinavia. Politically, ethymologically and historically they can be subsumed with Danmark, Finland and the Faroer Islands.

But you're the Nordman in here, Midget.

I wanted to wait for Mighty's statement, but I'll add mine too. Actually, it's the opposite. Geographically Finland belongs to Scandinavia. But in terms of language, culture and even ethnically, Finns differ greatly from their neighbours. Finnish is not even an Indo-European language making their only linguistic friends in Europe the Hungarians and the Estonians.

Finland and Denmark are not even remotely the same. The Finns' language is totally differen from Danish, Swedish or Norwegian, which in turn is very close to one another. The Scandinavians came from mainly Germany, while the Finns came (I think) from the east.

Politically you're right (any Finn may arrest me here): After WW2 they turned westwards to counter the Soviet influence and threat.

Arlesya: Finland is not a part of Scandinavia. Strictly speaking Scandinavia is the peninsula consisting of Sweden and Norway plus Denmark.

On the other hand, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and the Faroe islands are the Nordic countries.

Personal knowledge:
I agree in all terms to you two comparing to what I knew before and what I learned.
I just thought the eintire "jumping lion" (<- look at a map) would be Scandinavia.

Internet knowledge:
I look it up on wiki and googled for two different websites who stated that they all belong together and stuff.
And they mentioned that the cross on the flags of the mentioned countries symbolised their togetherness.
So Iceland would be in as well...?

Upshot: I'm confused. :dizzy: And unsettled...

Let's clear things up!!!

Icewolf:

Sweden, Denmark and Norway are the Scandinavian countries, which in turn is part of a larger group: The Nordic countries: Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland and the Faroes.
