Wavy Screen
I have a problem with my display. Its all wavy. This is a general problem. I tested my machine with a different moniter and its still wavy. I also downloaded the most recent drivers for my video card.. In order to keep things legiable I had to change my refresh rate from 60 to 75 hz. I have an emachines T6524. 2.2Ghz AMD 64 Athlon processor with 200Gb hard drive with 1 Gb of ram and a Radeon Xpress 200 video card. Can someone suggest some answers on how to fix this?

Try replacing your graphics card. I know, it could be an expensive exercise, but it's possibly a faulty VGA plug.

Your monitor might had been going on a too low or high refresh rate for a while. AlumuiN might be right, it can be a faulty VGA plug, but it can be also the following:
-Your monitor might be too old -Resolution should be too big at low refresh rate -VGA card badly connecting I've encountered the wavy monitor 'syndrome' several times and it had these three issues. (For me, at least.)

Sounds to me like your horizontal synch circuit is going out. Might be time for a new monitior

if you're using crt monitors, 75 is still kinda "wavy", try 85 instead
anyways, define 'wavy'?

well if you "tried everything" how can we help you then
BY THE WAY, changing desktop refresh rate doesn't help. on resolution change it goes to different value. what you try to do is go to start-> run type dxdiag click More Help tab click override DirectDraw refresh rate set override value to value that your monitor can handle and is not wavy then (75 you said?)

Try replacing your monitor cable, faulty cables or substandard insulation can produce problems.

While we are at it, you should also check for interference from something around your screen.
Heavy speakers or a nearby TV could be a problem. Just like anything which produce an EM wave. Most cell phones sold around here act in a very bad way on nearby speakers, for example... |
