Because at first it would have just seemed like a way to hurt them and shut them up. As he kept going it became more obvious he just completely lost it.

Personally I don't think the issue is his racist remarks, he would have used whatever he could to get at them no matter what race they were. The issue is his ability to handle the criticism, comedians get that, especially in small clubs and he should be able to handle it. Sure he may have had a bad day but as a comedian that is no excuse.

I disagree, if it weren't for his racist remarks, there wouldn't be any fuss about, I ver much doubt it would make it to the CNN and other news stations and he wouldn't have to apologise in a show watched by millions of people.

Well yes it's the issue because the media can blow it up into an issue.

Everyone is so fixated on racism, they all say they want a world without racism, where everyone can get along yet they endlessly look for ways to accuse anyone for racism even when it is not implied at all, like the PSP billboard ads when they brought out white PSP's. If everyone would actually put some though into this situation that Michaels Richards was put in and how he reacted they would see he used what he knew would hit them the hardest. I don't consider him racist from this situation, I consider him a bad comedian for losing it. If everyone wants a world free of racism they have to stop blaming everyone one of it.

Nope the people in audience. first they laughed, after a while they laughed less, and finnally they started saying OMG, OMG. strange how the same thing was funny for them at first but then they perceived it as not funny at all. [/b]
Ah well excuse the misunderstanding then. Maybe some of the people that laughed at first were not the same who were so shocked afterwards, but some others certainly did both things as you said. What is true is that ALL who laughed at first then pretended to be shocked and left their seats, leaving Richards alone.

I wouldn't boycott anyone for something like this even if I thought he was really racist, I don't stop watching movies from some actors who utter in my opinion rather stupid and outrageous statements.
